Hershey’s Idea - New Brand Product

The brief is all about value proposition which is key to Hershey’s strategy. There is a huge opportunity to grow the value segment and introduce new and exciting offerings around Hershey’s as a brand.

 

Background for an idea: The mix of candy (particularly strawberry flavored) and chocolate has always been very popular where I come from. Kids and adults take a strawberry-flavored lollipop and stick a Kisses or Hershey’s type milk chocolate to it, and once they are together, proceed to suck on both until (usually) the chocolate dissolves. Then you either bite the candy or continue sucking until it also dissolves.

 

I’m very surprised that no chocolate company has developed a bar of milk chocolate that mixes these 2 flavors/textures as they are TRULY made in heaven.

 

You can try it by placing a Kisses drop or a brick from a Hershey's chocolate bar on top of a strawberry-flavored Lifesaver hard candy. Resist the temptation to bite it. Just suck on it and feel as both melts away together in your mouth.

Introducing ‘CHOCOBELA'

 

Choco is for ‘chocolate', and Bela (which means ‘beautiful’) is because we found inspiration from our 17-year-old daughter Bela who loves mixing chocolate and strawberry candy.

The idea is to create a chocolate bar with strawberry-flavored hard or chewy candy (the size of almonds, as in the Hershey's Almond version), or inside Kisses type ‘drops’ - although not at the center so that one can immediately find both flavors. Another solution would be to place a thin layer of chewy-yet-smooth strawberry filling sandwiched between chocolate coats.

  • 70+ years of an entire country doing it (mixing these 2 flavors) by themselves proves the combination works.

  • A fun, alternative way to eat chocolate. Both chocolate and Strawberry (candy or delicious chewy dehydrated fruit) melt inside the mouth rather than eating it (almost like ice cream). It paves the way for a new fashion/ritual of consuming chocolate (which will give the brand a distinctive personality that can be very beneficial when advertising the product).  

  • Appetizing, refined, and chic right from the get-go because of the colorful and elegant (white, red, and brown) presentation.
